About the Exhibition

an art life: kent manske & nanette wylde features work by two independent artists who often collaborate on conceptual projects. Manske & Wylde share three cats and an art studio in North Fair Oaks, and studio 215 at Art Bias in San Carlos.

Manske and Wylde established PreNeo Press as their conceptual and collaborative space in 1992. Activities of PreNeo Press include: independent studio practices; collaborative projects; facilitating art experiences for diverse groups; curating exhibitions; design and publishing; creative interventions; and inviting artists to create projects in our print studio.

Pre and Neo are frequently used prefixes applied to art historical time periods and genres. Pre meaning before and Neo meaning new. Press has dual meaning for us. First, it indicates our desire to push ourselves intellectually and creatively. Second, it refers to our backgrounds and art making identities as printmakers.

Our collaboration revolves around a continuous dialogue about aspects of the art world and global/cultural phenomena. We are interested in interpretation and understanding; making meaning out of the complex world we live in; and communicating ideas, perceptions and perspectives.

Publishing arms of PreNeo Press include Hunger Button Books and Whirligig

Scopecreep is our news and information platform.
