Date and schedule: Saturday, September 20, 9:00 - 12:00 + 1:00 - 4:00 PM and Sunday, September 21, 9:00 - 12:00 PM. Nine hours in total with one hour lunch break on Saturday.
Description: Aina will instruct students in painting a portrait in oil from a life model, going over the basics of drawing, color mixing and rendering light and form. This is the perfect workshop if you are a beginner or if you have a little bit of experience with oil paints. Aina will be doing demos, painting alongside with the participants, and giving individualized, personal feedback.
Fee: $285.00 including model fees.
Class planning:
– Day 1: Drawing, study of head structure. Light and form. Big areas of color.
– Day 2: Rendering form and details. Final touches.
TEACHING ARTIST:
Aina Clotas is a figurative oil painter born in Catalonia, Spain, in 1987. After attending an undergraduate filmmaking course, Aina received her BFA from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2012. To further her training, she studied traditional painting methods at the Barcelona Academy of Art, graduating in 2015. She taught at the Barcelona Academy of Art, La Salle University and the Florence Academy of Art in Sweden and is currently teaching at the College of San Mateo. Aina's personal work is influenced from both the nineteenth century atelier methods and the cinematography language. Her work has been exhibited in Spain, the United States, Portugal, Canada, Estonia and the United States. Aina lives in Half Moon Bay, where she works at Nuance Fine Art, the art studio she shares with her husband Joe Altwer.
