Release Through Movement: An Expressive Dance/Movement Therapy Workshop
with Nathaniel Silveira-Pyzik, board-certified dance/movement therapist and licensed counselor,
Date: Friday November 14th at 6:30pm
This dance/movement therapy workshop will teach you ways to connect with your body, release emotion, and explore thoughts and feelings through expressive dance and movement practices. Led by board-certified dance/movement therapist and licensed counselor, Nathaniel Silveira-Pyzik.
Description: Participants will learn a movement warm-up guided by the instructor to help them connect with their body and find movement resources for energy modulation and self-exploration. The instructor will demonstrate how basic dance and movement qualities can help people express themselves, explore feelings, and release stress or emotions that are held in the body. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own movement resources and self-care strategies using movement and/or dance. The facilitator may offer music, guided imagery, and movement prompts to help participants explore. Participants will be offered a few minutes to reflect on the experience near the end of the class if they wish (not required but optional).
Additional Information: No prior dance or movement experience is required. Participants are encouraged to explore movements that feel natural in their bodies. All activities can be adapted for physical impairments or disabilities. Personal disclosure is not expected, and self-reflection is welcomed but never required.
This class is designed to be educational and immersive. While it may feel therapeutic, it is not a substitute for therapy. Participants may experience benefits such as stress relief, increased mind–body awareness, and support in navigating daily activities, life transitions, emotions, and overall wellness.
