Description

The Programs + Operations Manager is a 30-hour per week position and reports to the Executive Director. The position combines event/class responsibilities and general office duties with facilities management. Along with the Executive Director, the Program + Operations Manager serves as the artistic voice and face of the organization, bringing a holistic perspective of support for Art Bias’ 60 resident artists while upholding Art Bias’ commitment to community service and artistic excellence. Potential for growth. Must have reliable transportation. Hybrid on site with some work from home possible. Weekdays plus some evenings and weekends, three month probationary period.

Programs: (12 hours/week) leads event preparation and implementation, including First Sunday Open Studios, set up for other events and classes, including participating in occasional summer and fall festivals and street art markets for Art Bias promotion, manage free and paid classes – schedule teaching artists, respond to inquiries by artists and students, drop in to assess classes, conduct evaluations, respond to partner requests, take and file photos for use in reports and marketing, meet with potential teachers. Provide new resident artist orientation, do website updates, supervise intern, develop and actively cultivate professional relationships with artists and the larger community.

Facilities: (10 hours/week) respond to maintenance requests for artists, acts as the main point of contact for vendors related to building repairs, supervise cleaning service, and maintenance, collect mail, process insurance renewals and rent checks, update artist leases, conduct a weekly walk-through to survey building and other studio needs, participate in monthly artists’ call. Advertise and fill vacant studios with the three member jury to lead a resident artist process (and other programming decisions) that upholds and advances the organizations commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

General admin support: (8 hours/week) includes maintaining and updating organizational contacts, constituent records in MailChimp, Google email lists, and copying, filing, answering phones, office printer maintenance, processing general requests, conducting studio tours, managing interns, etc. Actively promote the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, access, and belonging to ensure tangible and sustained efforts are made throughout the organization to build an organizational culture that nurtures goodwill, inclusion and empowerment. Support Executive Director in fundraising efforts, maintaining donor documents, guiding cultivation and ensuring a strong and cohesive artistic narrative in all communications


Qualifications

Minimum five years of experience in nonprofits, or related admin work. Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport and trust with diverse stakeholders, particularly artists and the general public.

Exhibits an awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences when working with partner organizations, interns, Board members, patrons, other stakeholders, and the general public.

Familiarity with the Bay Area art scene is highly desirable.

Excellent communication, listening, and follow-through skills. Self-directed, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a flexible structure. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Skills in digital applications such as MailChimp, Canva, DonorBox, EventBrite, Squarespace, Instagram, GoogleMeet, Zoom or willingness to learn.
